The Glory of Christ Revealed in Scripture

2 Peter 1:16-2:3

Discussion Questions:

  1. Thinking back to the entire Summer, what are one or two big takeaways you have had from 1 and 2 Peter?

  2. Coming into a new HG semester, how are you doing spiritually right now? Is there anything that has been particularly strengthening for your faith lately or are there any doubts which which you are currently wrestling?*

  3. Read Matthew 16:27-17:9 and reread 2 Peter 1:16-18. Why do you think Jesus made sure to take Peter, James, and John to be "eyewitness" of his Transfiguration?

  4. During the Transfiguration, God tells the disciples to "listen to his beloved son." What would it look like to live with a listening ear towards what God wants to say to us?

  5. What comes to mind when you read Peter comparing God's Word to being like a "lamp shining in a dark place" (1:19)? What implications does this image have for us?

  6. Can you think of a time that God's Word has strengthened your faith or calmed your doubts before? How did that happen?

  7. Spend some time praying for God to speak to you through His Word by the Holy Spirit this semester - both during your group meetings and in your individual time with him.
