  1. Is there anything that makes it hard for you to grasp the significance or the shock of this passage/Advent as a whole?

  2. How does it strike you that finding favor with God (v.30) often means significant hardships?

  3. Is there anywhere in your life where Luke 1:37 (“nothing shall be impossible with God”) is either particularly encouraging or particularly hard for you to believe? Why?

  4. In what ways does Mary give us a good example for how we should respond to God in Luke 1:38?

  5. How would your life look different if you fully viewed yourself as a “servant of the Lord?”

  6. Read Luke 1:39-47. How can participating in spiritual community increase our joy in the Lord? What implications does this have for our Home Group?
