Before hearing this week’s sermon or reading Ezekiel 36, what would you have said is the core reason why God relates to us the way He does? In other words, what do you think most motivates God?
Read Ezekiel 36:6-32. What most impacted or challenged you in the Scripture?
According to Ezekiel 36:22-23, what does God say is his core motivation in acting towards Israel? (Potential Follow Up Question: How does it sit with you that God's core motivation is his own name, and not primarily us or his love for us)?
Ezekiel 35 is a prophecy of judgment that reveals God's character (35:4; 15). What do we learn about God and his holiness from his wrath?
In contrast, Ezekiel 36 is a prophecy of mercy that reveals God's character (36:11; 23). What do we learn about God and his holiness from his mercy?
How should we respond to a God who is first and foremost concerned with His own holy name, yet has still set His love on us and says, “I am for you” (36:9)?
